Endodontics
Root canal treatment and surgery. This procedure is used to save a tooth that has an abscess in the nerve root causing extreme pain and infection. A crown is typically placed over the tooth following the root canal, to maintain strength. It is usually an urgent and painful situation. In the past, these teeth were extracted resulting in long term loss of the tooth, and shifting both of the bite and surrounding teeth. There is rarely a reason to extract a tooth now as the goal is to preserve all of our patient’s teeth for a lifetime of maximum health and function.
